Flowers in the Mirror, Classic Qing Dynasty Chinese Novel
Hardcover. 5.25 x 7.5 inches approximately. Text is in Chinese. We believe this is Flowers in the Mirror, the classic Qing Dynasty fantasy novel, known for its contribution to the idea of feminism. Completed in 1827, this edition appears to be mid-twentieth century, possibly 1937. Red cover with black script. Black & white illustrations make up a quarter of the book. Black felt script on top and bottom foredge, behind title page and possibly on cover. 1 x 5 cm cut-out on first page. Edges are worn. Small brown stain on bottom foredge. Possibly business printing/old printing? Possibly published by Zhongshan Sencheng High School Board? Very readable interesting copy with lovely illustrations.
