First Canadian Edition showing three figures on the cover, the 'Rose Publishing Co.' imprint on the spine, & 1890 on the title page. The cover is worn along the edges, lower spine missing a small piece of cloth. Front and back inner hinges are cracked but the book is loose but still attached to the cover. The text has a few finger prints and a couple of pages have pencil annotations. A very good copy of this first Canadian edition, illustrated with many b/w line drawings.
