CONTEMPLATIONS ON THE OCEAN, HARVEST, SICKNESS AND THE LAST JUDGEMENT, IN A SERIES OF LETTERS TO A FRIEND

C. Sutton, 1801. A New Edition. Hardcover. viii, 226 [2] pages. 1801. This book is showing its age, with a cracked front hinge, worn edges and cover. Previous owner's signature on the free endpaper, dated 1808, and an inscription on the second blank page, stating that the book was formerly owned by Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken. Helmcken was a surgeon with the Hudson's Bay Company who built, what is now, the oldest house in British Columbia on its original site. A very good copy of this scarce book by Pearsall (1698-1762), a Somerset dissenting minister writing his Contemplations, a mixture of theology, philosophy and religion. One illustration, speckled fore edge. Good + / No Jacket. Item #002623
